Brown aluminium oxide calcination

The advantages of brown aluminium oxide calcination:

1. Eliminate the abnormal expansion of brown corundum abrasive. In the smelting process of molten corundum, the abrasive contains subvalent titanium oxide, titanium carbide and titanium nitride. It is calcined in an oxidizing atmosphere and further oxidized, and the volume becomes larger accordingly, so that the volume change of the abrasive exceeds its normal expansion, which is called abnormal expansion. The abnormal expansion of the abrasive will cause network cracks on the surface of the brown corundum ceramic grinding wheel during firing, resulting in a large number of waste products. The calcination treatment is an effective method to eliminate the abnormal expansion of the brown corundum abrasive.

2. Reduce the bulk density of the abrasive and improve the toughness of the abrasive. During the abrasive calcination process, the lattice shrinkage is caused by the oxidation of Ti3+ in the solid smelted jade steel crystal, which improves the compressive strength of the abrasive. Second, calcination can also compensate for the internal stress generated during the particle process. Therefore, calcined abrasives are used to produce various abrasives, which are durable and sharp, improve the grinding performance, and are widely used in the production of resin sheets and heavy-duty wheels.

3. Improve the hydrophilicity of brown corundum abrasive. After calcining the brown corundum abrasive at 800 degrees Celsius to 1,350 degrees Celsius for 2-4 hours, the hydrophilicity of the abrasive increased by 3.5 times. This is mainly because impurities such as volatiles on the abrasive surface are removed, low-melting substances are burned off, and the capillary phenomenon on the abrasive surface is increased. The grinding bulk density is correspondingly reduced, the hydrophilicity is improved, and the abrasive is used to coat the abrasive, and the durability can be increased by about thirty percent.
